REGULATION
FOR MARKETING WOOD IN THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY
Regulation 995/2010, of the European Parliament and of the Council, of October 20, 2010 (published in the Official Journal of the European Union on November 12, 2010) called “Due Diligence” is part of the FLEGT Action Plan (Law enforcement, “governance” and trade) of the European Union to combat illegal logging and trade in timber and wood products. This Action Plan focuses on providing assistance to wood producers to develop systems for verifying the origin of wood and improving the application of current legislation. The referred Regulation 995/2010 establishes the obligations of the agents that commercialize wood and wood products.
This regulation came into force on March 5. We have been informed of what this can mean for our clients and we can reassure them.
Legally, this law makes differences between a) Agents and b) Merchants
In accordance with these regulations, our company is considered as "Merchants" and therefore we have the obligation to save and show, if necessary, the registry of our suppliers and clients to guarantee the traceability of our products.Likewise, our clients are also considered "merchants" for the purposes of this law, so they must also guarantee the origin of their wooden packaging but unlike us as a supplier of pallets, once the pallet has been used for normal use, the requirement of this regulation disappears.
AIRFREIGHT
AIR TRANSPORT
Since the entry into force of the EU-Air safety act 2013 regulation, the packaging for air shipping must be “virgin” (not opened or modified) before it is loaded inside the plane. (If the packaging is manipulated by unauthorized persons There must be evidence of it. In this way, if someone were to cut the packaging to put dangerous, prohibited or unauthorized material inside the package, the packaging modifications would be evident and there would be clear proof of its unauthorized manipulation
This is easy with INKA pallets !! Since the surface of the pallet is totally closed, it prevents it from being manipulated through the lower part of the pallet without having to pierce it first. The German Federal Air Traffic Office has validated the information that you can find in the following document: INKA-answer_to_EU-aircargo_safety_act_2013
Shipments with INKA pressed wood fiber pallets are considered "Tamperproof Air Freight" if:
-
-
-
- The goods must cover the total surface of the pallet
- If the packaging units are smaller and it is not covered, in plastic wrap or film it must cover all the merchandise and the perimeter of the pallet
-
-
Another advantage of the Inka Palet is the closed structure of the pallet, there is no separation between boards as there may be in the wooden pallet. Therefore there is no point of access to the merchandise via pallet.
For exporters with a high frequency of air shipments, it is recommended that they register as "regulated agents" in the corresponding agency of each country for air traffic, in this way they will not be so affected by the strict controls at airports.
DO NOT TAKE RISKS IN THE SHIPPING OF YOUR PRODUCTS!!!
